Supreme Court rejected plea to stay NEET UG result stating the stay will have huge consequences on more than 23 lakh students who took the entrance exam.

NEET UG 2024 Re Exam

The Supreme Court has ratified hearing PIL alleging the NEET 2024 paper leak. However, the apex court has rejected the plea to hold the NEET UG 2024 result or to conduct a fresh examination as it will impact the future of 23 Lakh students who appeared for the examination.

The bench of CJI DY Chandrachud along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra ratified to examine PIL by Vanshika Yadav. However, the bench refused the plea to conduct the NEET re-exam or stay on the result declaration, filed by senior advocate Narender Hooda.

PIL Filed For NEET UG 2024 Re-exam

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) on May 5, 2024. Within a few hours, the NEET UG paper leak news came to be highlighted. Consequently, Vanshika Yadav, an aspirant, filed a PIL to the Supreme Court of India demanding NEET UG 2024 re-exam. However, the Apex Court has rejected the plea to conduct a fresh examination or stay the declaration of the NEET UG 2024 result, as reported by TOI.

“Stay on the declaration of results will have huge consequences and impact more than 23 lakh students who took the test," the bench said.

Consequently, the petitioner alleged that the NEET 2024 paper leak nullifies the transparency of admission and merit-based selection process for medical colleges. This would negatively affect the future of honest and meritorious students in lieu of those who have access to the leaked papers.
