NEET UG Counselling 2023 Live: Round 1 Registration (Started), Fee Payment, Choice Filling, Seat Allotment Result

The Centre's Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reportedly allowed students to upgrade their college choices until the third round of the counselling process. Till now, the upgradation of choices was allowed only until the second round of NEET UG Counselling. The students had no option to explore better colleges in the third round. If students do not join the seats allotted to them in either the second or third round, they will forfeit their refundable deposit amount which is INR 10,000 for all India quota seats and central institutions, and INR 2 lakh for deemed universities.

Exit with forfeiture means if a candidate is allotted a seat in Round 3 or subsequent round of counselling and does not want to join the allotted seat he can still exit with forfeiture (losing security amount deposited). Once a candidate joined the allotted seat after Round 3, he/she would not be eligible for resigning/surrender of joined seat.

According to the National Medical Commission of India (NMC), the total MBBS seats offered in India is 1,08,248.

While filling the choices for the NEET 2023 counselling process, candidates should keep in mind the following factors:

• Rank of the Colleges: Before choosing the colleges, candidates will have to check the rank of the medical colleges. It would not be much worth selecting a low rung college as not only these do not have adequate infrastructure, but also would lack in terms of faculty and other intellectual resources.

• Courses: MCC conducts the NEET UG counselling for three courses, namely, MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing. Along with the institutes, candidates also need to select the course properly. They should also be careful while choosing the college and course. For example, a number of participating institutes offering BSc Nursing only admit female students. Hence, male candidates choosing such colleges will become invalid.

• NEET UG Cutoff: While selecting colleges in the NEET choice filling and locking rounds, candidates must check previous years’ NEET UG cutoff for those colleges to know their chance to get a seat allotted at those institutes.

• Order of Preference: The order of preference during choice filling should be based on the factors such as old AIIMS colleges, Deemed Universities, State Universities, new AIIMS colleges, and other government colleges, followed by private colleges.

After online registration, you have to fill in choice of Institutions/colleges/courses in order of your preference. Once the choice is filled in, it can be modified before locking it. During the choice locking period, it is necessary to lock the choices to get a print of your submitted choices. If you do not lock the choice submitted, it will be automatically locked as per schedule.

The choice filling process for the NEET 2023 counselling will be conducted on July 26, from 3 PM to 11.55 PM. 

The choice filling process for NEET 2023 counselling will begin tomorrow, July 22 onwards. The last date to fill choices is July 26, 11.55 PM.

MCC has not yet released the seat matrix for the universities. It is expected that the information will be released prior to the choice filling round commencement.

NEET 2023 counselling process is conducted by different authorities for Central and States. The counselling authority for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats is Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Whereas for the different states, Directorate of Medical Education, or a particular Government Medical College or University is the counselling authority.

Some of the states and Union Territories have started the counselling process for NEET UG 2023. Some such states are as follows:

The various steps for NEET UG counselling 2023 are given below:

• Registration
• Choice filling and locking
• Verification of applications and processing of seat allotment by MCC
• Release of seat allotment
• Uploading of documents at the MCC portal
• Institute reporting or joining
• Verification of joined candidates by institutes based on data shared by MCC

The Government of India has implemented 27 per cent OBC reservation (Non-Creamy Layer) and 10 per cent EWS reservation in 15 per cent Under Graduate (UG) All India Quota seats (MBBS/BDS) (contributed by the State/UTs to the Central Pool) in the selection of candidates through NEET UG counselling for MBBS. 

The NEET 2023 cutoff increased as compared to last year. The category-wise NEET 2023 cutoffs are given below:

The NEET 2023 choice locking process is given in the steps below:

• By clicking the Choice Lock Button and confirming the same, the choices could be locked.

• Choices once locked can’t be unlocked. Therefore, the candidates are advised to exercise choice carefully, as the choices above the allotted choice will be processed in the second round.

• In case candidates fail to lock choices, choices filled in by the candidate will be automatically locked at 5:00 PM of the last date of locking.

• On clicking the “Lock Choice” button (active only on notified dates), the submitted choices will be displayed on the screen along with all restrictions, on the choices selected, if applicable.

• During locking process, candidates have to enter the password and then only the system proceeds with locking of choices.

• After locking of choices, following message will be displayed indicating no more choice submission is possible – “Your Filled Choices have been Locked Successfully. Now you are not allowed to make any modifications in Filled Choices. After taking the Print Out Press LOGOUT Button and close all Open Windows related to your session for Security Reasons. Click Below Link to Print Locked Choices.”

• After locking, candidates can take a printout of locked choices, which includes the locking date and time, IP address of the computer and system-generated Unique Number.

• After locking the choices, if a candidate logs in again, then the locked choices given by the candidate will be displayed and the choices cannot be modified or altered.

Candidates will have to follow the below steps to complete the choice filling and locking process. Prior to that, candidates must ensure that they have completed the registration process and have paid the requisite fee for registration as per their category.

• Visit the official website of MCC – mcc.nic.in.

• Click on the Login tab and enter the User ID and Password.

• Click on the link ‘Available Choices’.

• On clicking the “Choice Filling” icon, the choices as per individual criteria of eligibility would be displayed to the candidate on the left side basket and on clicking the button for the required choice, it will be selected. The choice chosen will be removed from the left basket and gets added to right basket.

• Candidates will have to click on the ‘Save & Continue’ tab.

• Candidates may change the order of preference of choices by clicking on the Upper Arrow ./button to move up, Down Arrow button to move down and delete button to delete the pre-selected choice of institutes.

• The choice Interchange (Swapping) could be carried out by selecting appropriate choices as source and destination to enable their swapping and reorder all the choices.

• If a candidate desires to delete a specific or a group of choices, candidates can click the appropriate box, for deletion of the one choice. Further, if the candidate, desires to delete multiple choices, in one go, he/she can click the appropriate boxes for deletion and confirm the same, so that all unwanted choices could be deleted by this operation.

The choice filling process for the NEET UG 2023 counselling is slated to begin on July 22. The process will be conducted for five days, till July 26, 11.55 PM. 

Candidates willing to change their candidate category or nationality from Indian to NRI, will have to submit the following documents to MCC:

• Documents claiming that the sponsorer is an NRI (Passport, Visa of the sponsorer).

• Relationship of NRI with the candidate.

• Affidavit from the sponsorer that he/she will sponsor the entire course fee of the candidate duly notarised.

• Embassy Certificate of the Sponsorer (Certificate from the Consulate).

• NEET Score Card of the candidate.

For NRI and OCI candidates following documents are mandatory:

• Passport copy of sponsorer, embassy certificate

• Sponsorship affidavit (stating that sponsorer is ready to bear the expenses for the whole duration of study)

• Relationship Affidavit (Relation of Candidate with the sponsorer)

• For OCI/PIO/Foreign national candidates citizenship certificate/ card documents are mandatory

Candidates willing to convert their nationality from Indian to NRI can apply for the same between July 19 and July 21, 10 AM. They will be given provisional NRI status and they will not be able to avail benefits meant for reserved or minority category candidates.

Unlike last year, MCC is conducting the registration process for all four rounds. Till last year, candidates were not given the chance to register for the fourth or the Stray Vacancy round. Moreover, till last year, candidates had to upload the documents during the registration process. This year, they have to upload documents after the seat allotment result is declared.

MCC has shared the following advisory regarding NEET UG 2023 counselling account and password security:

• Confidentiality of Password is solely the responsibility of the candidate and all care must be taken to protect the password.
• Candidates are advised to keep changing the Password at frequent intervals.
• Never share your password and do not respond to any mail which asks you for your Login-ID/Password.
• It is strongly recommended that the OTP sent to the applicant for any activity like reset password etc. must not be shared with anyone.
• For security reasons, after finishing your work, click the LOGOUT button and close all the windows related to your session.

In case a candidate forgets his/her NEET UG 2023 counselling registration, there are two methods to reset the password. 

1. Reset password using a verification code via SMS: Applicant is required to enter NEET-UG Roll No. If the details entered by the applicant match with registered Candidate data then the system will send the verification code through SMS to the registered mobile no. and the applicant is required to enter the verification code. If the verification code matches with the database then the system will prompt for resetting New Password.
2. Reset password using a reset link via Email: Applicant is required to enter NEET-UG Roll No. If the details entered by the applicant match with registered Candidate data then the system will send an email to the registered email id. Candidates are required to see their inbox and follow the online instruction for resetting the New Password.

If a candidate wishes to change his/her NEET UG counselling 2023 password, the following steps will have to be followed:

•  Applicants will have to login into the system and click on the “Change Password” button. 
• Applicants will have to enter the old password, new password, and confirm new password to change the password.
•  If old password matches and new password is as per the password policy then the form will be submitted and the password will be changed successfully.

MCC has stated the following instructions for selecting the NEET UG 2023 counselling registration password:

1. Password must be 8 to 13 characters long.
2. Password must have at least one Upper case alphabet.
3. Password must have at least one Lower case alphabet.
4. Password must have at least one numeric value.
5. Password must have at least one special character, eg.!@#$%^&*-

There will be as many as four rounds of NEET UG 2023 counselling. The rounds are as follows:

• Round 1
• Round 2
• Round 3
• Stray Vacancy Round

MCC NEET 2023 counselling will be conducted for admission to the following institute types:

• Central Universities
• Deemed Universities
• AIIMS Institutes
• JIPMER Institutes

Through NEET UG counselling 2023, admission to the following programmes will be offered:

• MBBS
• BDS
• BSc Nursing

MCC has begun the NEET UG 2023 Counselling Round 1 registration process. Candidates will have to click on the 'New Registration' tab under the Candidate Activity Board to register for MCC NEET counselling 2023.

Candidates will have to upload documents after the declaration of the seat allotment result. The list of documents that will have to be uploaded, as well as the hard copy which must be carried to institutes during the reporting process is given below.

• Seat Allotment Letter issued by MCC

• NEET 2023 result/scorecard

• Date of Birth Certificate

• Class 10 Pass Certificate

• Class 12 Pass Certificate

• Eight passport size photograph (same as affixed on the application form)

• Proof of identity (Aadhar/ PAN/ Driving Licence/ Passport)

• Category/Reservation Certificate (if applicable)

As per the official notification released by MCC, the NEET UG counselling Round 1 registration process for 2023 will begin at 1 PM, which is around five minutes from now.

Candidates must ensure and keep the following information and documents ready before starting the NEET UG counselling 2023. 

• A stable internet connection
• A copy of NEET 2023 application form
• Softcopy of passport-size photograph (same as uploaded for NEET 2023 application process)
• Credit/Debit Card Number or Net Banking credentials for registration fee payment
• A stable mobile network to receive OTP or other instructions through SMS
• Download Sandes App

MCC released the NEET 2023 counselling information bulletin on July 19, a day prior to the commencement of the counselling process. The information bulletin carries a detailed account of the process, participating institutes, fees and answers to the frequently asked questions. 

MCC will begin the NEET UG 2023 Round 1 registration at 1 PM. The information has been shared on the official website of MCC NEET UG 2023 counselling. 

To participate in the NEET 2023 counselling process, candidates must fulfil the following eligibility requirements:

• They must qualify for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)

• They must be registered on the official website of MCC

• All candidates, including candidates from the UT of J&K, can participate in the counselling for AIQ seats and deemed universities

MCC is scheduled to begin the NEET UG 2023 counselling Round 1 registration process today, July 20. Although MCC has not stated any timing to release the registration form, it is expected that the process will begin anytime soon.
