NEET UG- Students group file RTI seeking information with demand for two attempts

Earlier, AISU also sent a letter to the NMC and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), and the Education Ministry, requesting NEET-UG to be conducted twice a year.
One of the students association representing NEET-UG students has filed an RTI application with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to seek information regarding plans to conduct the NEET UG twice a year.
The All India Student’s Union (AISU) is demanding for conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) exam twice a year. NEET-UG 2023 was held on May 7 in which over 18 lakh students participated.
AISU has filed an RTI in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare seeking information, on whether the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is aware of the requests made by students and other stakeholders for conducting the NEET UG exam twice a year.
It has also sought details of the mass grievances received by the Ministry through the PG portal/speed post/email regarding NEET UG twice a year. The RTI also seeks information related to the grievances received from aspirants regarding NEET UG twice a year.
The students are also seeking details of meetings (if any) held by the Ministry till date on the matter of conducting NEET UG twice a year, and the outcomes of those meetings.
Earlier, AISU also sent a letter to the NMC and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), and the Education Ministry, requesting NEET-UG to be conducted twice a year.
However, the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Health Ministry already replied to a similar query related to NEET-UG last year, where they stated that they are not capable to conduct the NEET-UG exam twice a year.
