New Medical College in Maharashtra

New medical colleges in Maharashtra have been approved by the state government in separate govt resolutions (GRs). Reportedly, the State Government has approved two new medical colleges in Maharashtra with an intake of 100 MBBS seats each in Hingoli and Jalna.

However, the medical institutes are still waiting for approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC), as reported by TOI. The state has notified that the construction of these college buildings and the required infrastructure will take time. By this time, a ready-to-us private building will be taken on lease in order to begin the academic curriculum of the students.

Apart from Government Ayurveda College in Buldhana and Government Unani College in Raigad, all of the new medical colleges were disclosed in the interim budget for February. Further, the two new medical colleges in Hingoli and Jalna, respectively, were made public on Friday.

The interim budget also included announcements for medical institutions in Dharashiv, Nashik, Sindhudurg, and Palghar along with Hingoli and Jalna. Most of these specific regions are going to have medical colleges with the ability to enrol 100 students and hospitals with 430 beds.
