NExT Exam Guidelines To Be Out Soon: NMC Officials Affirm 'Requisite Under Process'

NMC to release NExT exam guidelines soon. A committed is working on the requirements and guidelines for the NExT exam. Following this, it will reach to the NMC. 

The National Exit Test (NExT) regulations and requirements will be released shortly. The NExT exam guidelines will contain the requirements of the exam and other important details such as pattern, dates, criteria will be made available for the students. 

Dr Yogender Malik, a member of the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC), affirms that a committee is working on the NExT exam guidelines and requirements. Following this, it will come to NMC. The meetings are in process for the same, as reported by Medical Dialogues. 

Reportedly, NMC has invited stakeholders for suggestions and feedback for the NMC National Exit Test Regulations, which, however, was extended by the commission due to the unavailability of a conclusion. 

The conflict on NExT exam has been in light ever since the first announcement was made. The authorities have earlier released NExT exam guidelines and exam schedule for the 2019 MBBS batch, which later on was adjourned till further notice.

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry intervened in NExT examination decision and guided NMC to put NExT exam on hold. 

Amidst the confusion on the NExT exam, the official assures no confusion on the regulations and the guidelines will be out very soon. The notification will also include the year of the first MBBS batch to sit for NExT exam. The NMC is currently involved in prerequisites of NExT exam and assuring due diligence in addressing the concerns.  

What is NExT Exam? 

NExT exam is a proposed exam that will replace NEET PG and FMGE exams for admission in postgraduate medical courses. The examination will be implemented in two steps. Step 1 is likely to be conducted for MBBS students of the 2020 batch while the step 2 exam is likely to be conducted in February 2026. However, the NExT exam dates are yet to be announced officially.
