All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi once again ranked number one in the NIRF India Ranking 2021 in the medical category. 

The premier medical institute, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS Delhi), has maintained its topmost position in the NIRF ranking in the medical category. It has consistently secured rank 1 for the fourth time in a row in NIRF 2021.

The other institutes that followed AIIMS Delhi in the NIRF Ranking 2021 are Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh, Christian Medical College, Vellore, National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru, and Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow.

AIIMS, Delhi

The institute was established in 1956. AIIMS Delhi offers medical and para-medical courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The students get exposure to the best of teaching, research and patient care. Other than AIIMS Delhi, there are more 14 AIIMS in the country.

The total campus area of AIIMS New Delhi is 115 acres. Entrance exams for admission in AIIMS, Delhi include NEET, INICET, AIIMS BSc Nursing Exam, AIIMS MSc Entrance Exam. There are total 43 departments in AIIMS, Delhi and the number of courses is 92 across 3 streams. There is a total student intake of 105 for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and the average placement package is Rs 24 LPA (2020). The mode of education is full-time.

NIRF Ranking

The Ministry of Education provides the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking every year to educational institutes across the country. The goal is to promote competitive excellence in higher educational institutions in India. The rankings are released in nine categories including Engineering Ranking, Overall Ranking, College Ranking, University Ranking, Medical Ranking, Management Ranking, Architecture Ranking, Pharmacy Ranking and Law Ranking.

The NIRF ranking is given based on various parameters that include teaching, learning and resources, graduation outcome, research and professional practice, peer perception, outreach and inclusivity. All these parameters include factors like student strength, faculty-student ratio, financial resources and their utilization, percentage of Students from Other States/Countries, metric for university examinations, percentage of women and many others.
