NMC Approves TRIHMS to Double MBBS Seats to 100 for Session 2024-25

 Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Arunachal Pradesh has been approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) to increase the MBBS seat intake for the academic year 2024-25. Previously, the seat intake for the MBBS programme at TRIHMS was 50 seats which now can be increased to 100 for the academic year 2024-25. 

 Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences submitted the application, which, under relevant sections of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019, has been increased, as reported by Medical Dialogues. 

The Approval has been sanctioned by Jitulal Ramprasad Meena, a Member of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC. The approval states that the increased seat intake shall remain valid till the first batch of students admitted appears for their final examination. 

Meanwhile, TRIHMS have to maintain the required norms such as infrastructure, teaching faculty, human resources and clinical material throughout the academic year pertaining to the NMC regulations. The institute is required to contribute 15% of MBBS seats and 50% of postgraduate seats to the All India Quota (AIQ) quota. 

Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences is the first medical institute of Arunachal Pradesh situated at Naharlagun town. The institute was established in 2017 with 50 MBBS seats and a 300 bedded hospital. The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses including MBBS, BSc Nursing, MSc Nursing and MD/MS programmes.
