National Medical Commission has given green signal to the government medical college in Jagtial under Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS).

National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted permission to Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) for admission of 150 MBBS seats in government medical college in Jagtial from the academic year 2022-23.

The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has given the permission to KNRUHS for admission of 150 MBBS seats in the government medical college in Jagtial, as reported by Telangana Today.

Eight new medical colleges to start from this academic year

Telangana government is all set to start eight new medical colleges from this academic year at Jagtial, Mahabubabad, Kothagudem, Mancherial, Sangareddy, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, and Ramagundam.

The health officials are expecting NMC's permission for other colleges as well in the coming weeks.

Health Minister T Harish Rao said recently that the admissions to eight medical colleges will commence this year.

“In 70 years, only three medical colleges were established in the State, but in the past seven years alone, as many as 33 medical colleges were established. Medical college seats were increased from existing 700 to 2,840 in the last seven years and the number will touch 5,240 over the next two years,” he said, as reported by The Hindu.

“We will be starting T-diagnostic hubs and radiology hubs in all district hospitals shortly. As many as 134 medical tests, including ECG, 2D echo, X-ray and ultrasound, would conducted here free of cost. Ten more radiology hubs are coming up in Hyderabad,” he added.
