NMC to Meet FMGs on June 18 Regarding Concerns on Compensation Certificate
NMC officials will address concerns on compensatory certificates by Foreign Medical Graduates as a consequence of the FMG protest outside the NMC office in New Delhi on June 10.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) will conduct a meeting with FMG representatives on account of discussion on concerns of compensatory certificates. The authorities will discuss the clarity of the notice dated June 7 regarding FMG internships.
The meeting shall be held on June 18 as a consequence of FMGs protest outside the NMC office in New Delhi on June 10.
Meeting to be Held With Five Student Representatives
Dr Aruna Vanikar, President of the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of NMC affirmed that the National Medical Commission will conduct a meeting on June 18 to address FMGs concerns and five student representatives have stepped forward for the discussion, as reported by Edexlive.
What is The Issue?
The National Medical Commission, on June 7, released a notification stating that certificates by foreign medical universities compensating for online classes shall not be accepted as valid. Further, the commission explained that many FMGs are maliciously obtaining compensatory certificates from their parent universities for the online classes carried by them.
Consequently, Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) have shown their disagreement with the circular and demanded revocation of the passed rule. The FMGs have expressed that instead of scrapping the provision, NMC shall take responsibility for checking the documents submitted by the students. Further, the protesters said that they have already invested ample time and money to go back to their parent foreign universities in order to compensate for the online classes.
