NMC said it has not issued any letter for renewal of the MBBS course to GR Medical College Hospital and Research Centre in Karnataka.

National Medical Council has issued a public notice to notify that there has been no letter issued for renewal of permission for the MBBS course for the 2nd Batch (1st Renewal) of GR Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Karnataka for the AY 2022-23.

"It has come to the notice of Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of National Medical Commission (NMC) that a forged/fake letter dated 13.09.2023 has been issued to G R Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Karnataka towards renewal of permission for MBBS course for 2nd Batch (1st Renewal) for the AY

2022-23," reads the official notification.

lt is clarified that the above-said letter has not been issued by the Member/President, MARB of NMC. Hence, this letter is forged/fake and cannot be considered valid permission from the Medical Assessment and Rating Board, National Medical Commission. The above facts are brought to the notice of all stakeholders concerned and the general public to not take any action based on the fake/forged letter. Appropriate action is being taken in the matter in accordance with the law, added NMC.

On September 1, NMC released a notice, that stated, "It has come to the notice of Medical Assessment and Rating Board(MARB) of National Medical Commission recently that several forged/fake letters have been issued to various colleges on behalf of Member/President, MARB whereas no such communications have been sent to the colleges in this regard. lt is clarified that the communication sent through the official e-mail id of Member, MARB i.e.member2.marb@nmc.org.in is valid only and all the colleges are requested to take no cognizance in respect of Letter of intents/Letter of Permissions received through another E-mail lD except the aforesaid E-mail lD."
