The National Medical Commission (NMC) issued a public notice regarding the circulation of 'fake news' concerning new medical colleges or an increase in the number of undergraduate and postgraduate seats for the academic session 2024-25.

“It has been observed recently that there is some fake news in Print/Electronic Media regarding the Establishment of New Medical Colleges and the grant of UG/PG Seats in various Medical Courses. It has further been observed that either the “Heading” of such news is misleading or the “Contents” therein are baseless.” The notification said.

Provided that, the Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB), NMC has denied all the news circulated in print/electronic media for an increase in the number of seats for the academic session 2024-25 and said that the received applications are still under process.

"The Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB), NMC has not approved/sanctioned any New Medical College or increase of UG/PG Seats in various medical courses for the academic year 2024-25 so far.
