Supreme Court has given its nod to National Testing Agency (NTA) for releasing NEET 2021 results.

National Testing Agency (NTA) had filed a plea in the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court order which was stopping NTA from announcing the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET 2021) result even when they were ready with the results.

The apex court was hearing the matter related to two NEET candidates from Solapur. Bombay High Court had directed NTA to conduct a fresh exam for these candidates and also asked to release their results with other candidates' results.

In the Supreme Court hearing, while accepting the mistake by invigilators that mixed these students OMR sheet and test booklet, NTA also pointed that the other four students who faced a similar issue during  NEET 2021 exam completed their tests and got good marks.

The Supreme Court bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna, L Nageswar Rao, and BR Gavai said, " We cannot delay results for 16 lakh students. We need to balance interests."

The apex court has also asked NTA to come back with a plan on what is to be done for these two students who lost their time due to confusion at the examination centre.

“We’ll issue notice and stay the HC Judgement...you announce the results. There are 16 lakh students who are eagerly waiting for the results. We will see what we can do for these 2 students,” the Supreme Court bench said.

The next hearing on this matter will be on November 12. Now after the Supreme Court judgement, NEET 2021 results are expected anytime soon.

NEET was conducted on September 12, 2021, for admission to undergraduate medical including   BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery), BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery), BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery), BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), and BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery). Over 16 lakh candidates had registered for NEET 2021 and more than 95% of the registered candidates had appeared for the exam.
