PGIMER Chandigarh to celebrate foundation day today

The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh will celebrate its foundation day today, July 7.

The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh has issued a notice to notify about the foundation day celebration today, July 7 at 8 am in the Bhargava Auditorium of the institute. 

Padma Shri Ajeet Bajaj will be the Chief Guest and his daughter Ms Deeya Bajaj, Everester will be the Guest of Honour.

As per the notification, "Both Indian Father-Daughter duo to summit Mount Everest. He will speak on "Summiting Mount Everest".

The notification reads, "All members of the Faculty, Residents, Administration/Technical, Engineering/Nursing Staff including students of various courses (except those on emergency duty) are requested to attend the celebrations."

PGMIER's notice also stated that Covid-19 appropriate practices need to be observed and faculty members and residents will wear white coats.

About the Chief Guest of the event

Padma Shri Ajeet Bajaj completed the explorer’s Grand Slam on June 5, 2022, while completing the seven summits with his daughter Deeya. He is also the first Indian to ski to the North Pole and complete the polar trilogy, which entails skiing to the north and south poles and across the Greenland icecap.

About PGIMER Chandigarh

The institute was formally inaugurated on July 7, 1963, by the then Prime Minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. The foundation day celebration today is to mark the completion of 59 years of PGIMER and the institute’s entry into the milestone 60th year. The hospital has 2,233 beds and has an out-patient department attendance of 9-10,000 patients (approximately) per day, as reported by Hindustan Times.
