Prof Subrata Sinha appointed as Dean (Academic) at AIIMS Delhi

After the former Dean (Acadmic) at AIIMS Delhi retired on June 30, 2022, Prof Subrata Sinha, Head, Department of Biochemistry, Laboratory Medicine and Dean (Research) has been appointed as the Dean (Academic).

While the AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria's tenure was extended for the second time and the search is still on for the post, the former Dean (Academic) at AIIMS Delhi retired on June 30, 2022, and the talks were going on that no one is finalised for the post yet. Normally, a new Dean is appointed three to four months before the current dean retires. However, Prof Subrata Sinha's name has been finalised recently.

PM-led selection committee is in search of new AIIMS Director

While Dr Randeep Guleria's tenure has been extended again the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the prime minister has asked for a wider panel of names for the post of director and the committee has sought an instant proposal for the same. As per the official notification, Dr Guleria's tenure has been extended w.e.f. 25.06.2022 by three months or by the time a new Director is appointed whichever is earlier.

For the director's post, three doctors' names were selected including Nikhil Tandon, head of the department of endocrinology; Rajesh Malhotra, chief of AIIMS Trauma Centre and the head of the department of orthopaedics; and Pramod Garg, professor in the gastroenterology department. These names were sent to the ACC for final approval in March 2022, and now the committee is looking for more names.
