Right to Health Bill Protest Intensified; Over 50000 medicos on road
The doctors' protest against the Right to Health Bill in Rajasthan is getting massive with more and more doctors joining the protest. More than 50000 aggrieved doctors, men, women, and senior consultants hitting the streets in Jaipur against the draconian RTH bill, said the All India Medical Students Association.
The Rajasthan government recently passed the Right to Health Bill despite the protest by doctors against it. Various doctors' associations also extended their support to the agitating doctor and said there are many issues with the bill which need amendment. Now, doctors are coming out on street to protest against the bill.
The Right to Health Bill gives every resident of the state right to avail of free OPD and IPD services at all public health facilities.
"The whole country is watching this movement done by doctors for their survival and it will be remembered for decades. This is mammoth. Unprecedented. Never before has this happened in India. More than 50000 aggrieved doctors, men, women, senior consultants hitting the streets in Jaipur against the draconian RTH bill. It is battle of survival for the medical community. Pls support," tweeted the All India Medical Students Association.
Dr Datta of AIIMS Delhi and also a former FAIMA member tweeted, "Tremendous show of Unity by the Medical Fraternity in Rajasthan. Against the Draconian RTH Bill. Request all to join in support of our colleagues there. If we don't get this Act repealed, it will set an example to other states to implement and destroy our healthcare system."
Dr Rohan Krishnan, former FAIMA president tweeted, "We stand in full solidarity with Rajsthan Doctors & agitation towards improper unrealistic RTH Bill. @RajCMO shd immediately take back this bill & implement a bill which is realistic, admissable and not just desirable."
