SC has scrapped the Bombay High Court order that directed NTA to take a re-examination of two NEET 2021 candidates whose OMR sheets got mixed at the examination centre.

The top court of the country has finally scrapped the Bombay High Court order that directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to take a re-examination of the two National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET UG 2021) candidates whose OMR sheet got mixed at the examination centre by mistake.

This case had delayed the NEET 2021 results. The NEET exam was conducted on September 12 and results were expected to be announced by the last week of October. However, after Bombay HC had ordered the re-examination of the two candidates and also had directed the NTA to release their results along with the results of other NEET candidates,  the results of lakh of students were on hold. NTA then approached SC challenging the Bombay HC order. Earlier, SC directed NTA to release the results and said we will see later what can be done for these two students.

Finally, NEET 2021 results were declared on November 1, 2021.  The qualified candidates are waiting for the counselling to begin. Medical Counselling Committee (MCC)  is expected to announce the NEET 2021 counselling schedule soon.

Now,  the Supreme Court has ordered that there will be no re-test for these students. NTA has also submitted an apology letter that reads, "We were doing duty for the first time; we assure this happened in a hurry and not a deliberate mistake."
