The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stated that the results of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET 2021) can be used for admission to undergraduate Nursing and Life Sciences programmes.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stated that the results of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET 2021) can be used for undergraduate Nursing and Life Sciences programmes. NEET scores were used to determine entry to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and Veterinary programmes until 2020. BSc Nursing and BSc Life Sciences will also be included.
NEET scores are used to determine eligibility for medical seats in both the all-India and state quotas. AYUSH Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) performs counselling for BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS seats of the central pool, while Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) uses NEET results for admission to the central pool of MBBS and BDS seats.
State governments use it to assign seats within their quotas in accordance with their laws and regulations.
NEET scores will be used by the Indian Nursing Council, Nursing Colleges and Schools, and JIPMER for admission to related courses starting this year.
The notification states, "The NEET (UG) - 2021 Result can be used by other Central/State Government Entities (including Indian Nursing Council/ Nursing Colleges/ Schools, JIPMER) for counselling/admission to related courses [including B.Sc. (Nursing) and B.Sc. (Life Sciences)] in compliance with their rules/norms/guidelines." Below is the official notice:
However, it is uncertain if NEET will now be India's sole entrance exam for admission to BSc nursing programmes, such as MBBS. For admission to Nursing programmes, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) holds its own entrance test.
NEET 2021 will be held on August 1 in 11 languages, according to NTA. At ntaneet.nic.in, the application process will start soon.
