Prof Sushma Bhatnagar, Head of Department of Onco-anesthesia and Palliative Medicine at AIIMS Delhi, has been appointed as Chief, Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital and Head, National Cancer Institute (NCI), Jhajjar.

Prof Sushma Bhatnagar, Head of Department of Onco-anesthesia and Palliative Medicine at AIIMS New Delhi has been appointed as Chief of AIIMS Jhajjar, which is an extension of AIIMS Delhi campus, also known as Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital and Head of National Cancer Institute (NCI), Jhajjar which is established within the campus of AIIMS Jhajjar.

AIIMS New Delhi tweet says, "Prof Sushma Bhatnagar, Head, Department of Onco-anesthesia and Palliative Medicine has been appointed as Chief, Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital and Head, National Cancer Institute, Jhajjar, @aiims_newdelhi @MoHFW_INDIA"

 

Government plans to connect AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Jhajjar with drone corridor 

As per senior aviation ministry officials, the ministry and the Airports Authority of India have approved the plan for the first ever drone corridor between the two institutes and it is expected to be functional before year end.

"AIIMS is waiting (some) other approvals. Once that happens test flights will be carried out. If all goes well, regular drone flights may start in about six months," said the official.

The drone corridor would be used for transporting blood samples, blood products and medicines and it is expected that with the help of these corridors, the medical supplies would be easy even during the rush hours.

NCI Jhajjar adopts new technology for early virus detection

In a first for Haryana, NCI has adopted a new technology named Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) for early detection of viruses and reducing the risk of transmitting infections for patients who need blood transfusions. This technology can detect early-stage infectious agents such as HIV, hepatitis-C, and hepatitis-B by looking at genetic markers of viruses i.e. DNA and RNA, as reported by TOI.
