Suspension of GMCs' docs: Health Minister Delhi assures impartial investigation

Health Minister Delhi, NCT Saurabh Bharadwaj has assured the FAIMA delegation that there will be an impartial investigation on the matter of suspension of GMC’s doctors. Read here for more details.

A delegation of FAIMA Doctors Association lead by the National Chairman, Dr Rohan Krishnan met the health minister of Delhi, NCT Saurabh Bharadwaj and discussed the matter of suspension of doctors of Goverment Medical Colleges in Delhi who were held accountable for the unfortunate incident of demise of the patient on January 2, 2024 due to referral from one hospital to another because of the alarming lapses in the infrastructure of Hospitals.

The Association has asked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to intervene in this matter. Earlier Delhi Medical Association had also opposed the Delhi government decision to suspend these doctors.

As per FAIMA’s official statement, following are the outcomes of the meeting:

• Health Minsiter assured that there will be an impartial investigation of the entire matter which will be done by a third body and not by the head of the hospitals but the health secretary.
• Health Minister also informed the delegation that he has taken suo moto cognisance of the issue and has already written to the Chief Secretary about the non functioning of the CT machine despite paying annual maintenance contract to the supplier.
• Saurabh Bharadwaj has given full assurance that a deep rooted investigation of this matter will be done and those who will be accountable for the death of the patient at both the medical and administration level shall be punished.
