Telangana govt announces INR 10 lakh to family of deceased PG medical student

Five days after a woman PG medical student attempted suicide in Telangana, she died at a state-run hospital while undergoing treatment. CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has expressed anguish over her death and the government has announced an ex-gratia of INR 10 lakh to the family of the deceased medico.

The woman PG medical student who attempted suicide in Telangana five days ago has died at a state-run hospital. After her death, the Telangana government announced an ex-gratia of INR 10 lakh to the family of the woman medico.

Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao said in a release on Sunday night that the woman's death is extremely unfortunate and painful and the government would stand by her family. 

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has expressed anguish over her demise, said the Panchayat Raj Minister.

The accused has been arrested and an investigation is going on in the case. The government has assured tough action against those found guilty. 

The father of the deceased medico also said that the government has assured him that another INR 20 lakh and a gazetted officer-rank government job would be given to a family member.

The doctor was found unconscious on duty. She attempted suicide due to the alleged harassment by one of her seniors, a second-year MD student in the Department of Anaesthesia at MJM Hospital.

The deceased's relatives also held protests on Sunday night at the state-run Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in the city where she was being treated.
