The health minister T Harish Rao has directed the higher officials to expedite the work of nine new medical colleges in the state so that they can be established this year. As part of commencing these colleges this year, as many as 67 persons were given promotions, he added.

Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao directed the officials to speed up the work of the nine new medical colleges so that it can be started this year. 

In a meeting on the newly established medical colleges in the state for this academic year, the health minister said that to start these colleges in this academic year, as many as 67 persons were already given promotions, as reported by The Hans India.

The officials are directed to provide all necessary facilities including furniture, equipment and hostel accommodation. He also said that all medical colleges must get approval from the National Medical Commission.

As per the report, it has been decided in the meeting to give postings to 210 Associate Professors through counselling within a week.  Also, the process of recruitment of 1,442 Assistant Professors has also reached the final stage.

Arogya Mahila Programme in Telangana

The health minister recently launched the Arogya Mahila Programme in government hospitals of Telangana on International Women's day. He urged all women to make use of these facilities. 

As per the Indian Express report, on March 21, 6,328 women visited the Arogya Mahila centres. Of these, 3,753 underwent breast cancer tests, 884 underwent cervical cancer tests, 3,783 underwent oral cancer tests, 718 underwent urinary bladder infection tests, 1,029 underwent micronutrient deficiency tests, 777 underwent thyroid tests, 477 underwent Vitamin-D deficiency tests, and 1,294 underwent CBP tests.
