Madhya Pradesh budget 2022-23: While presenting the budget for the upcoming year, the MP government did not propose any new taxes or hiked the rates of existing ones. However, the key focus of the Madhya Pradesh budget for 2022-23 remained child welfare, education and health sectors. The state government presented a budget of INR 2.79 lakh crore in the Assembly on Wednesday by finance minister Jagdish Devda amid continuous uproar by Congress MLAs.
MP Chid Budget 2022 for the first time ever!
For the first time, the assembly witnessed the presentation of ‘child budget’ comprising announcements for children aged up to 18 years. The children-specific MP budget 2022 announcements included a hike of 7 per cent. The proposed allocation to the school education department under MP Budget 2022 stood at INR 27,792 crore compared to INR 25,953 crore last year.
The government also made a provision of INR 10,345 crore for the establishment of government primary schools. Allocation of INR 6,212 crore has been proposed for the establishment of secondary schools, INR 3,908 crore for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and INR 3,160 crore for high/higher secondary schools. The government has also allocated INR 1,157 crore for the CM RISE scheme under which 360 schools have been selected in the first phase.
Increase in MBBS seats from 2,035 to 3,250
Meanwhile, the government also announced the expansion of its flagship Ladli Laxmi Scheme to cover higher education. MP Budget 2022-23 also included initiatives for the health sector comprising the development of 10,000 sub-health centers and 1,200 primary health centres and wellness centres. Further, 22 new medical colleges were announced with an increase in MBBS seats from 2,035 to 3,250.
