Mumbai University Exams 2022: Mumbai University has directed all autonomous colleges to provide extra time to students to complete their exams. The move comes after several students protested against the decision to conduct examinations in offline mode. In a circular, the varsity asked the colleges to keep ample breaks between two exams and to ensure that timings are suitable for students to travel conveniently.

Considering that the students will be appearing for the examination after a gap of two years, the circular signed by Vinod Patil, director of the Board of Examination and Evaluation, stated that it is addressed to the principals or heads of autonomous colleges after several students approached the university seeking relief in the upcoming examination session.

“Since students will be appearing for offline or physical exams for the first time in two years, we suggest such colleges give extra time to complete their papers,” the circular mentioned.

Several students have earlier raised concerns that how some colleges are holding exams at 7 am which would compel those traveling from areas like Palghar to leave home at 5 am to make it on time. “We have asked colleges to take into account such issues while fixing exam timings,” the University officials said.

In February, the Mumbai University in a circular stated that the Mumbai University Summer 2022 exams will be held in hybrid mode. All UG exams for commerce, arts, and science session 2 (regular) and backlog exams for the same batches will be conducted offline. Backlog exams (allowed to keep term) for semester 1, 3 and 5, as well as semester 4 exams for regular and backlog students, will be held in online mode.

However, in March first week, the university issued another statement confirming that semester 6 exams for traditional (aided and unaided) courses will be held online, whereas those for professional courses will be conducted in offline mode. Several autonomous colleges, however, decided to conduct all exams only in offline mode.

Why did Mithibai College refuse to follow the order issued by Mumbai University? Is the college Principal Krutika Desai above law? Will no one question her? She made final year students appear for offline mode of exams without giving any gaps for revision and refused to listen to anyone.
