This initiative is taken in order to promote the participation of teachers, educational professionals, academicians and other stakeholders in preparing the policy to create a sustainable and positive change in the teacher’s education sector.

MyNEP2020: To collect suggestions, inputs and feedback from teachers and other professionals to help in preparing a draft for National Mission for Mentoring Program Membership (NMM) and National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST), Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has launched a new online portal. Reports suggest that the acting body behind this initiative is the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The new portal has been named as ‘MyNEP2020’. Working professionals from the field of education can submit their suggestions latest by May 15.

According to the source, this initiative is taken in order to promote the participation of teachers, educational professionals, academicians and other stakeholders in preparing the policy to create a sustainable and positive change in the teacher’s education sector. While launching the online platform ‘MyNEP2020’, the education minister posted a tweet from his official Twitter handle stating, “To prepare 21st-century #teachers, #MYNEP2020 portal has been launched by ncteDelhi. Inviting nationwide suggestions/inputs for National Mission for Mentoring Program Membership and National Professional Standards for Teachers before May 15.” Check the official tweet below:

In order to build the new policy, NCTE will be working with various individuals and organisations. A committee consisting of experts would then review the inputs taken during the consultation period and then form the draft policy. The reviewers will be asked to submit their feedback about the policy before forming the final draft.

RTE should do away with the gift of automatic promotion of students, and instead, may provide additional coaching and options of re-appearing in the exams in the same year for badly performing students. Along with this, there is a need for examination reforms.
