NCERT to launch a ‘joyful’ academic calendar for CBSE classes 1 to 12

CBSE Chairman, in a letter to principals, stated that the calendar is under progress and it is being developed to attain learning in a ‘joyful’ manner.

Amid delayed results and suspended classes, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) asked the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to develop a new academic calendar for classes 1 to 12. CBSE Chairman, in a letter to principals, stated that the calendar is under progress and it is being developed to attain learning in a ‘joyful’ manner. The chairman further added that the calendar also suggests means and ways to use technology to facilitate the process of learning.  

NCERT will be releasing the curriculum soon. The new academic calendar will be shared with the principals. Emphasizing the new trend of e-learning, the chairman expressed that the time has come to embrace technology. In order to make communication effecti9ve between the teachers and students, one can take help from group video calls, conference calls, simple voice calls, etc.

CBSE chairman in her letter to principals expressed that online classes synced with the normal routine that they used to follow offline in school won’t give productive and positive results. There are chances that it may create stress for the students.

Advisories are being sent to schools to follow digital learning platforms provided by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD). The chairman asked schools to continue the teaching and learning process continue during this difficult time with the help of comprehensive digital learning platforms focused on providing curriculum-linked and curated content.

Meanwhile, the board also asked parents to make children aware of the misuse of online learning and content. While expressing the concern, the board stated, ‘We would like to caution at this stage that while technology will be required to be used by the child for learning, at the same time, sensitize parents about the misuse/ misinterpretation of information in certain sites that can induce possible distress in children because of exposure to age-inappropriate content.
