NEET 2021: NTA Notification Throws Light on National and State Counselling Process

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a notification on the NEET 2021 counselling process at national and state levels. Know the details here.

In a recent notification released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam conducting body of NEET 2021 has stated that the result of NEET 2021 was declared based on the qualifying criteria prescribed by the National Medical Council (NMC) as well as the information submitted by the candidates in their online application forms.

While NTA has released the All India Merit List based on candidates’ All India Ranks (AIRs), and the admission authorities will release individual merit lists based on All India Rank for the seats of MBBS/BDS falling under their jurisdiction. “When candidates apply to their State, they will mention their category as per State Category List. State Counselling Authorities will accordingly make their Merit List. The same is the case with the domicile. The NTA has no role in it and no change in any data will be made by the NTA,” stated NTA.

The notification further states that the qualified candidates will have to complete their admission formalities by visiting the websites of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (85 per cent AIQ seats), Medical Education Directorates of States (15 per cent state seats) as applicable.

The notice indicates that the NEET 2021 counselling process will be announced soon for the 85 per cent All India Quota seats. Some of the State Authorities have already announced the state merit lists and schedules for the state-wise NEET counselling process.

“During counselling, the eligibility criteria, self-declaration, various documents, etc. of the eligible candidates shall be verified as per norms specified by the respective authorities and/or Medical / Dental Colleges. NTA does not have any responsibility towards the correctness/genuinity of the uploaded information/documents during the application process,” mentioned NTA.
