NEET row: A NEET observer and an exam coordinator are arrested today in connection with asking aspirants to remove innerwear.

NEET 2022 frisking Kerala: Two more arrested, total 7 arrests so far

After five women were arrested earlier in the NEET 2022 frisking case in Kerala, now two more arrests have been reported of a NEET observer and an exam coordinator. The two arrests have taken the total number of arrests in the case to seven now.

The alleged incident took place on July 17 during the NEET UG 2022 examination at one of the centres at Ayur in Kerala’s Kollam district. The father of one of the victims complained to police that her teenage daughter and others were asked to remove innerwear to enter the examination hall. 

Kerala government has taken the matter seriously and working together with the centre to find out what happened at the exam centre.

NTA constitutes the Fact Finding Committee 

After earlier denying any such incident, the National Testing Agency (NTA) finally established a fact-finding committee which will also visit Kollam.

The official notification reads, "It has been brought to the notice of Ministry of Education through various media reports that an incident allegedly happened in one of the Centre’s of NEET(UG)- 2022 near Kollam district in Kerala. NTA has already issued a clarification in this regard. Further, Shri V. Muraleedharan, MOS, Ministry of External Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs and other public representatives from Kerala have met the Union Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today. Dr. R. Bindu, Minister of Higher Education and Social Justice, Government. of Kerala has also written a letter to Union Education Minister."

"In view of the above, the Ministry of Education has asked the National Testing Agency to ascertain all the facts about the incident on the spot from stakeholders present at the Centre at that time. Accordingly, a Fact Finding Committee has been constituted by the NTA to ascertain the facts in detail. Further action will be taken based on the report of the Fact Finding Committee," added the notification.
