NEET PG 2022 Counselling: Maharashtra govt invites opinion on NMC's fee guidelines
Maharashtra government has invited opinion on NMC's recommendation of implementing fees of 50% seats in private and deemed medical institutes to be at par with the fees of government medical colleges.
In wake of an Office Memorandum by the National Medical Commission, the Maharashtra government has invited opinion about NMC's guideline regarding fees of 50% seats in private and deemed medical institutes. The NMC's Office Memorandum suggested that the fees for these seats should be at par with the fee of the government medical colleges.
A week before the first seat allotment list of Maharashtra is about to be released for NEET PG 2022 counselling, the state medical education department has invited opinions from all stakeholders regarding the implementation of the National Medical Commissionβs (NMC) 50% fee control in private and deemed medical institutes.
The Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2022 candidates and their parents were seeking clarity on whether the state will implement NMC's recommendation on the fee structure.
βUnless the state government helps us with subsidies or financial aid, it is impossible for unaided institutes to give 50% of their seats on the fee structure of government medical colleges,β said Kamal Kishore Kadam, chairman of the Mahatma Gandhi Mission Institute of Health Sciences, and president of the Association of Managements of Unaided Private Medical and Dental Colleges of Maharashtra (AMUPMDC), as reported by Hindustan Times.
In March this year, NMC issued a guideline for private medical colleges to offer 50% of their seats to students at fees charged by government medical colleges. In the last week of July, NMC released another memorandum stating that these guidelines will be applicable to deemed-to-be institutes as well and that they will be implemented in 2022-23 itself.
However, Madras High Court has directed the NMC to revisit its office memorandum and if necessary issue a fresh Office Memorandum. The court had said that till such exercise is completed, the present fee structure prescribed shall continue.
