The NIFT exam is conducted for admission to the B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses. The 17 participating institutes for NIFT 2023 will offer a combined intake of 5,023 seats.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will release the online application form for NIFT 2023 tentatively in the 1st week of December 2023. The application form will be released at the admission portal of NIFT - niftadmissions.in. The NIFT 2023 exam will be conducted in paper-based mode tentatively in the 1st week of February. NIFT exam is conducted for admission to both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) design programs.
For the B.Des program, candidates who have passed the 10+2 exam from a recognized institute and are less than 24 years as of August 1, 2023, can apply. In the case of SC, ST, and PwD candidates, relaxation of up to 5 years is applicable.
Candidates seeking admission to the B.F.Tech course, in addition to meeting the above criteria, must have studied Physics and Mathematics in 10+2.
How to fill the NIFT 2023 application form
The NIFT 2023 application form has to be filled in online mode following the steps given below:
- Get registered - The candidate will have to first get registered and create an applicant account. In the registration form that opens, enter details like your email id and mobile number.
- Enter essential details - Next you will have to enter academic, personal, and contact details. Also, select an exam center from the given options.
- Upload documents - Along with the photograph and signature, academic documents will also have to be uploaded.
- Pay the application fee - The exam fee of INR 3000 (INR 1500 in case of reserved categories) have to be paid online.
NIFT 2023 exam structure
The NIFT 2023 entrance exam is a two-stage process:
- Written tests - The candidate first has to appear in the General Ability Test (GAT); B.Des and M.Des candidates will have to additionally take the Creative Ability Test (CAT).
- Situation Test / Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GDPI) - The scores of the written test will be considered for shortlisting candidates for this round. B.Des candidates have to take the Situation Test, while PG applicants need to take the GDPI. B.F.Tech, candidates don’t have to take this round, as the merit list for admission will be prepared simply based on GAT scores.
The final results for NIFT 2023 will be prepared by giving weightage to both the written tests and the Situation Test (GDPI).
