NIT Jamshedpur has suspended the classes until Friday after 13 students tested positive for COVID-19. As a precautionary step, all the victims were isolated soon after they tested positive.

COVID-19 Is Not Over: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur has suspended the classes until Friday after 13 students tested positive for COVID-19. As a precautionary step, all the victims were isolated soon after they tested positive. Considering the source, all the students are recovering well and are stable.

A random testing campaign conducted by NIT Jamshedpur found out that 13 of its students are COVID-19 positive. The random testing was conducted following the detection of COVID cases on the campus in the Adityapur area of Seraikela-Kharswan district, according to an official.

The assistant registrar of the institute informed that the infected students are being provided with food, medicines and other essential items while being in isolation. Barring first year and some senior students, all other pupils are away on summer vacation, Bhagat said.

Jharkhand is among those states that are witnessing a rise in the number of novel coronavirus cases again. The fast spread of Infection is being seen in Jamshedpur as the tally for active COVID-19 cases have gone above 70.

In Seraikela-Kharsawan the district adjacent to Jamshedpur, COVID-19 positive infections recorded a big jump on July 4 as 14 cases were reported including 13 students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur in Adityapur. Considering the safety of students and staff members, COVID-19 tests were conducted for a total of 100 students.

The offline classes for this batch have been postponed for the next three days, as per the orders released by the institute.

The hostel warden has also instructed the students to wear masks and follow other COVID-19 guidelines, especially in the mess. According to reports, several students of the institute have also decided to return home.
