NIT Surathkal Self-financed postgraduate programmes admissions 2022 are on! The National Institute of Technology (NIT-K) Surathkal is receiving a lot of positive responses to its full-time self-financed postgraduate programmes such as MTech, MSc, MCA and MBA. The technology institute had announced these programmes to accommodate more candidates. The scheme was started in the academic year 2021-22. NIT Surathkal Self-financed postgraduate programmes popular among NIT aspirants
NITK officials said that as per norms and depending upon courses, five to 10 additional candidates can be admitted to the existing PG courses. Reports suggest that these programmes became popular amid NIT aspirants and some courses have received three times or more applications.
The institute commenced admission for all 36 PG programmes in the last academic year. The candidates meeting the eligibility criteria are selected. However, candidates enrolled under NIT Surathkal Self-financed postgraduate programmes do not receive any scholarship or assistantship.
The programmes received a decent amount of applications that too when the institute did not advertise them much. A total of 386 applications for 154 seats were received. Among them, only 104 candidates were selected for 36 courses, Vidya Shetty K, dean, (academics) told TOI.
It is expected that this year NIT Surathkal Self-financed postgraduate programmes admissions 2022 will receive a gigantic response from students. This academic year will witness more competition for the seats, said Shetty.
She further added that, in the last academic year, some courses such as VLSI design, MBA, computer science and engineering, structural engineering, mechanical design, computer science and engineering-information security, received applications, that were more than four times the number of seats.
The programme that received lessor no applications were geoinformatics, marine structures, nanotechnology and chemical engineering. Courses like industrial biotechnology and process metallurgy received zero applications.
