The National Law School of India University's (NLSIU) alum has secured all India rank (AIR) of 31 in the Civil Services Examination and bagged the top rank in Karnataka in his first attempt.

Avinash V, NLS BA LLB 2020, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) graduate has secured all India rank (AIR) of 31 in the Civil Services Examination and bagged the top rank in Karnataka in his first attempt.

The 24-year-old is a gold medallist alum from NLSIU who received the Mrs Madhu Bhasin Noble Student Award for Legal Aid Clinic.

While telling about his plans, he said that he is opting for the Indian Foreign Service, and the foundation course starts in Mussoorie next month. His interest lies in foreign diplomacy and advocacy work and he wishes to work in diverse areas, multilateral institutions, and in the Ministry in Delhi. 

"Doing good and honest service for the nation is my priority," he added.

For his juniors in NLSIU who aspire to write the UPSC examination, he said the students must develop a strong foundation in law at the NLSIU and must not hesitate to approach seniors for guidance. One should also start preparing for papers such as Essay and Ethics during law school and read newspapers every day.

Avinash's background and inspiration

He hails from Davangere Karnataka from a business family. Before joining NSIU he completed his schooling and pre-university at Davan College in Davanagere. The inspiration to join civil services came from his internship at the Ministry of External Affairs during his fourth year of law school.
