NMC advises medical colleges to install cameras, Doctors association welcomes the move
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has advised all medical colleges to install cameras on their institute premises.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued an advisory for all medical colleges and institutions and recommended installing cameras on their institute premises with specifications of the cameras - DVR with High Procession Power with networking for remote accessibility, recommended with 16 channels and CCTV cameras with 4K resolution.
The total number of cameras recommended is 25 - one at the main entrance of the hospital and college, two at the patient registration centre, and five cameras at the OPDs depending on the number of OPDs in the medical college but it should cover Medicine OPD, Surgical OPD, Gynaecological OPD, Paediatrics OPD, Ortho OPD etc.
Moreover, two cameras at the pre-anaesthesia area and recovery area in the operation theatre complex, two cameras at the faculty lounge and attendance-making area, five at all five lecture theatres, one at the anatomy dissection hall, and two each at the physiology lab/bio-chemistry UG labs and patho and microbiology labs and one each at the pharmacology lab, patient attendant waiting area and emergency and casualty ward.
Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has supported the move and tweeted, "Great Move By @NMC_IND! One more step toward improving quality of healthcare infrastructure."
NMC provided relaxation for covering BCMET to medical faculty
The medical commission has provided relaxation for completing the Basic Course in Medical Education Technology (BCMET) for medical faculties. It provided a relaxation of one year from the date of issue of the notice. The faculty members availing of this relaxation will have to complete the course within three years from the date of promotion.
