NMC approves 100 MBBS seats at Karjat Medical College
National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted permission for 100 MBBS seats at Dr NY Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Sciences, Karjat.
The medical aspirants seeking admission to the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) course in Maharashtra must note that the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 100 MBBS seats at the Dr NY Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Sciences, Karjat.
The approval has come after the NMC's Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has reviewed the report by the expert committee on the infrastructure of this medical college.
As per the TOI report, the expert committee's study had mentioned the faculty, infrastructure, hospital facilities, and hostel facilities of Tasgaonkar group of institutes' medical colleges at the Bhivpuri Road near Karjat.
Currently, Maharashtra has a total of 57 medical colleges, out of which 26 are government-run colleges and 31 colleges are private ones. The total medical seats are 9000, of which 4430 seats are in government-run medical colleges and 4570 seats are in private colleges. Now, with the addition of 100 more seats, the total count of MBBS seats in Maharashtra will increase by 100.
Karjat Medical College is a newly built medical college. It was established in this year only, that is in 2021. The name of the affiliating university in Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik. The hospital bed capacity at Karjat Medical College is 401. The admission to the MBBS course in Karjat Medical College will be done on the basis of NEET UG scores.
NEET-UG was conducted on September 12 and the results were declared on November 1. The aspirants are eagerly awaiting Medical Counselling Committee's (MCC) announcement on the Counselling dates which are expected soon.
