NMC asks medical colleges to update their websites latest by March 31

National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked the medical colleges to update information on their websites latest by March 31.

National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice stating that some colleges have updated their websites but some have still not updated. These colleges must update their websites latest by March 31, else they will be charged with penalties, says the notice.

NMC notification reads, "The Medical Assessment and Rating Board of National Medical Commission, New Delhi congratulate the medical colleges on starting the Academic Year 2021-22. We are happy to see the website with updated information of some colleges. Still some of the colleges have not updated the information till date."

"Failure to comply will attract penalties. Colleges shall update their websites by March 31", added the notification.

NMC allows FMGs from Ukraine to complete internship in India

NMC has allowed the Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) who have returned to India from Ukraine, to complete their mandatory 12-month internship in India.

The NMC said, “Considering the agony and stress faced by the foreign medical graduates, their application to complete the remaining part of an internship in India is considered eligible. Accordingly, the same may be processed by state medical councils provided that the candidates must have cleared FMGE before applying for completion of internship in India."

Guidelines for FMGs registration

NMC stated that FMGL(Foreign Medical Graduates Licentiate ) Regulations, 2021 are not applicable in the following cases:

  • FMGs who have acquired a foreign medical degree or primary qualification, as the case may be, prior to November 18, 2021;
  • Candidates who have joined their undergraduate medical education in foreign institutions prior to November 18, 2021; and
  • Such foreign medical graduates are specifically exempted by the Central Government, by notification.
