Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared this information in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha about whether Delhi University or any other similar Public-funded Universities proposed to set up their campuses abroad.
The Ministry of Education has informed that there are no proposals under its consideration from public-funded Universitieslooking forwards to set up their campuses abroad. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared this information in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha about whether Delhi University or any other similar Public-funded Universities proposed to set up their campuses abroad.
“As of now, no such proposal is under consideration in the Ministry of Education. All the central universities including the University of Delhi are a statutory autonomous organisation established under an Act of Parliament and governed by their respective Act and the statutes and the ordinances made there-under,” he said.
“All administrative, academic decisions are taken by the University with the approval of its statutory bodies, such as Executive Council, Academic Council and Court. However, the Central Universities may admit to its privileges any institution situated outside India subject to the provision in their Act,” he added.
The Ministry of Education also informed the Parliament that Tripura and Maharashtra are the only states that have successfully vaccinated all of its teaching staff in government and private unaided schools with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Ahead of the school reopening, the state governments across the country had made vaccination of both teaching and non-teaching mandatory. As of November 25, 2021, Maharashtra had recorded to vaccinate 98.53 per cent of non-teaching staff, while Tripura has vaccinated all of its non-teaching staff as well, the Ministry of Education informed.
