NTA to examine alleged error in NEET-UG 2021 physics question due to Hindi translation
After a group of medical aspirants filed a petition in Supreme Court, National Testing Agency has agreed to examine the alleged error in the physics question of NEET-UG 2021.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has submitted to the Supreme Court that the alleged error in the physics question of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 will again be evaluated by a panel of three experts.
NTA has agreed before the top court to examine the alleged error due to the Hindi translation of the question.
Supreme Court bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Surya Kant, and DY Chandrachud has adjourned the hearing to November 30, 2021.
The Supreme Court order reads, "During the course of the hearing, Mr Tushar Mehta, solicitor general of India, has submitted that in order to allay the apprehensions of students who appeared for the NEET UG 2021 in Hindi, the solutions to both the Hindi and English version of question number two in the physics paper (Code B2) shall be evaluated again by a committee consisting of three experts. After this process is done, it has been submitted that an affidavit would be filed before this court setting out the result of the evaluation of the solutions."
The petitioners' plea said that the discrepancy in the said question has put the Hindi NEET-UG 2021 candidates at a disadvantageous position.
NEET UG 2021 was conducted on September 12 in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Gujarati, Bengali, Urdu, Marathi, Odiya, Malayalam, Punjabi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu for admission to various undergraduate medical courses. The results were released on November 1 and Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) is yet to announce the NEET UG 2021 Counselling schedule.
