The academic and non-academic staffers of colleges and universities have received directions to attend their workplace in one-third of their total strength on the basis of roster method in order to curb COVID-19 spread.
Omicron Scare: After witnessing a ferocious increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Chhattisgarh, the state government has announced its decision to stop offline classes in colleges and universities be with immediate effect. Also, the state government has put a cap on the attendance of academic and non-academic staffers in these institutions. Reports suggest that considering the health and safety of students and staff members, the state's higher education department has directed colleges and educational institutions to conduct exams for all first and second-semester students of all courses via online mode or in a hybrid (online+offline) mode.
Quoting the order released by the state government, a public relations department officer said, "Physical classes in all government and private universities and colleges should be prohibited with immediate effect and classes should be held online.”

The order further asked the universities to conduct the first and third semester examinations of all courses for the academic session 2021-22 in online or blended mode. The universities have also received directions to release detailed guidelines in this regard for the clarity of students.
Meanwhile, the state has already shut schools in the districts witnessing an increase in the numbers of COVID-19 cases and where the positivity rate of the novel coronavirus infection is four per cent or above. Following that order, several districts, including the state capital Raipur have shut schools for all classes.
