Operation Kaveri: 17 Telangana students return from Sudan

Under the Operation Kaveri, India brought home 754 people in its mission to evacuate stranded Indians from strife-torn Sudan. While 392 people arrived in New Delhi, 17 students from Telangana, who were stranded in Sudan landed at Palam Air Force Station in New Delhi on Friday.

As many as seventeen students from Telangana were evacuated from war-torn Sudan. They landed at Palam Air Force Station in New Delhi on Friday under the ongoing Operation Kaveri.

Dr Gaurav Uppal, Resident Commissioner, Telangana Bhavan, received them at the Air Force Station.

The students were taken to the Telangana Bhavan in Delhi before being flown down to Hyderabad, all of which will be taken care of by the state government, an official statement said, as reported by Deccan Chronicle.

14 Telugus reach Mumbai from Sudan

Moreover, 14 Telugus from Sudan reached Mumbai late Thursday night on a flight via Jeddah. Warangal collector B Gopi, who is part of the team coordinating the evacuee operations for the Telangana government, said all the 14 persons were from Hyderabad. While five of them reached the city by Friday noon, nine others reached late Friday night.

The Ministry of External Affairs said, the eighth, ninth and tenth batches of stranded Indians have left Sudan for Jeddah.

"An IAF C-130J takes off from Port Sudan with 135 passengers for Jeddah. This marks the 12th batch of stranded Indians evacuated under," tweeted Arindam Bagchi, the spokeperson of Ministry of External Affairs.

"Indigo joins #OperationKaveri. 231 Indians in a flight to New Delhi from Jeddah. With this 5th outbound flight, around 1600 reached or airborne for India. Happy journey. Our Mission continues," tweeted V Muraleedharan Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs.
