The university has also announced that it has decided to charge people coming from outside, and those who are not students or university staff employees, for using the gym premises and the playgrounds for different sports.

Osmania University has come up with a new rule for all those who are jogging and running through the campus. As per the new rule, the authority will charge Rs 200 from all those people who will use the campus for jogging and running. Except for the students, all those who will come to walk through the campus will now have to pay Rs 200 from December 1.

The university has also announced that it has decided to charge people coming from outside, and those who are not students or university staff employees, for using the gym premises and the playgrounds for different sports.

As reported by an English daily, this was also proposed earlier to levy monthly charges on those who use the campus premises for exercising, walking and any fitness activities. The Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University said that the walkers themselves had offered to pay charges for using the campus, in lieu of better facilities on the grounds.

The Osmania University campus is one of the main green lungs for many who are living around it, in areas like Tarnaka, DD Colony, Vidya Nagar, Manikeshwar Nagar, Adikmet, Habsiguda and Amberpet. Every day, several fitness enthusiasts and walkers come to the university as it is the only area where a big playground and greenery conducive to exercise is available.

Meanwhile, many morning and evening walking have expressed their displeasure on University's decision. The authorities stated that the playground and tracks at the Osmania University will be kept open for the public during morning and evening hours.

It must be noted that the University's grounds is also been used by police and armed forces aspirants to carry out fitness training routines.
