PM Modi to inaugurate Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam on implementation of NEP at Varanasi today
The key highlight of the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam will be the adoption of the Varanasi Declaration on Higher Education which will showcase India’s extended vision and a renewed commitment to help achieve the goals of the higher education system.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today inaugurate the three-day Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam being organized by the Ministry of Education in association with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
PM Modi will inaugurate the Samagam and share his vision of nation-building. The Summit will provide a platform for leading Indian Higher Educational Institutions to discuss, deliberate and share insights on strategies, success stories and best practices in implementing the National Education Policy, 2020.

Addressing a curtain-raiser press conference about the Shiksha Samagam, Prof. M. Jagadish Kumar, Chairman, University Grants Commission, informed that the Summit will be attended by academic, administrative and institutional leaders of various Indian Higher Education Institutions, academicians, research scholars, government officials, policymakers, thought leaders, professional and educational experts and industry experts.
He said that the three-day program will comprise sessions on themes such as Multidisciplinary and Holistic Education, Skill Development and Employability, Indian Knowledge Systems, Internationalization of Education, Digital Empowerment and Online Education, Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Quality, Ranking and Accreditation, Equitable and Inclusive Education, Capacity Building of Teachers for Quality Education. An exhibition will be held on the various initiatives taken for the implementation of NEP 2020 including technical books in regional languages.
The UGC chairman said that noted academicians and educationists from all over the country will ponder on various key issues like making the Indian education system more equitable and accessible to all, internationalization of Indian Education and popularizing and promoting ancient Indian knowledge. He also listed various initiatives undertaken by the UGC in line with National Education Policy, 2020. Prof. Kumar said that a number of institutions in India have done a remarkable job regarding the implementation of NEP 2020 and this summit will provide a platform for sharing of these success stories.
Prof. Sudhir K Jain, Vice-Chancellor, Banaras Hindu University, said that Summit will initiate thought-provoking discussions, effectively articulate the roadmap and implementation strategies, foster knowledge exchange and build networks through interdisciplinary deliberations and discuss challenges being faced by educational institutions and articulate solutions. Prof. Jain said that one of the sessions during the summit is on Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which will see new ideas and knowledge come to the fore for making our research more practical not just theoretical works. Research in educational institutions must bring about positive and productive change in the lives of people and we must make sure that our institutions work in this regard. The session on Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be very useful in this regard, said Prof. Jain. It is expected that more than 500 delegates will participate in the Summit.
