Portable ‘Health ATM’ installed at IIT Kanpur

‘Health ATM’ is an integrated computer, biomedical diagnostics, point of care laboratory and videoconferencing system connected through the internet to telehealth clinics with doctors. The system creates an electronic Personal Health Record for patients.

Health ATM’ collaborative venture of IIT Kanpur, SGPGI Lucknow 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) Lucknow jointly inaugurated a ‘Health ATM’ at IIT Kanpur. 

Health ATM is an integrated computer, biomedical diagnostics, point of care laboratory and videoconferencing system connected through the internet to telehealth clinics with doctors. The system creates an electronic Personal Health Record (PHR) for patients.  

The data can be analysed using machinelearning and other tools that can open new avenues to offer predictive and personalised medicine. With our expertise in technology combined with SGPGI's expertise in medicalscience, we will continue to work on more smarthealthcare devices.  

Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur, and RK Dhiman, Director, SGPGIMS Lucknow, inaugurated the system at the health centre of IIT Kanpur. Karandikar tweeted, “Taking forward our collaboration with SGPGI Lucknow for developing solutions for affordable healthcare using telemedicine, I am happy to share that we have installed the first portable low cost, integrated platform, "Health ATM" (Telemedicine Kiosk), at Health Centre @IITKanpur.” 

He said, “The data can be analysed using machine learning and other tools that can open new avenues to offer predictive and personalised medicine. With our expertise in technology combined with SGPGI’s expertise in medical science, we will continue to work on more smart healthcare devices.” 

Ganesh, Deputy Director, IIT Kanpur, Harish, Dean, Research and Development, IIT Kanpur, and Mamta Vyas, Chief Medical Officer at the health centre of IIT Kanpur also attended the inauguration event.
