Punjab Schools Summer Vacation: Amid the rising temperature and heatwave gripping India, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has decided to commence summer vacation in Punjab schools from May 14 onwards. A tweet from the official account of news agency ANI informed, "Keeping in view of the sudden heatwave & suggestions from thousands of parents & teachers, it has been decided to observe summer vacation in all schools of Punjab from May 14.”
Altered school timings in Punjab
For the health and safety of students, Punjab schools have also altered the school timings. According to the revised timings, Primary classes will be conducted from 7 am to 11 am from May 2 to 14, and senior classes will run from 7 am to 12:30 pm.
Rising Temperature in Punjab
Punjab and its neighbouring regions witnessed rising degrees as compared to the average temperature in the last few days. Considering the heatwaves, the Punjab government decided to begin summer vacations in all Punjab schools from May 14 onwards.
Temperature scale reaches above 40 degrees
While the whole nation is gripping under scorching heatwaves, Bhatinda recorded a high temperature of 44 degrees Celsius on April 29 while Patiala saw 43.4 degrees Celsius. Amritsar was also running at a similar 43.3 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana was at 43.2 degrees Celsius and Jalandhar was at 42.7 degrees Celsius.
Reports suggest that the heatwave will now abate. However, parents across the nation are demanding early summer break. A lot of discussions are going on Delhi schools summer vacation as well. However, schools are yet to finalize over early summer break.
