Punjabi University Semester UG, PG exams postponed amid teacher strike

The reason for the postponement of the exams as per University is that there are pending exam works from the department and colleges which is why the colleges have been asked to finish the formalities or be penalized.

Punjabi University has announced that it has postponed the Undergraduate and Postgraduate semester examinations. The exams have been postponed by the university and the revised dates for the UG/ PG semester examinations will be released on the official website soon.

As per the reports, the new dates of the postponed examinations will be released on December 20, 2021. The reason for the postponement of the exams as per the varsity is the pending exam works from the department and colleges which is why the colleges have been asked to finish the formalities or be penalized.

However, it is reported that the Punjabi University UG PG Semester examinations have been postponed owing to the ongoing teachers' strike across the state. Teachers across the various universities and colleges in the state have suspended the academic activities as per the Punjab Federation of University and College Teachers Organisation due to which the employees across the universities in the state have decided to boycott the exam process.

Professor Bhupinder Singh Virk, President of Punjabi University Teachers Union told Hindustan Times that the reason for the postponement of the exams is the teacher’s strike due to the failure of the implementation of the UGC pay scales by the state government.

Punjabi University was all set to commence the Undergraduate and Postgraduate semester exams for students in a blended mode. The varsity had earlier decided to hold the PU Semester exams offline, however, after several students started demanding online exams, following which the University has decided to hold it in blended mode.
