Rajasthan High Court has asked the NEET authority to allot an appropriate college to a Pakistani citizen as per his merit and ignore the fact that he does not have a long term Visa.

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test ) authorities have been asked to allot an appropriate college to a citizen of Pakistan based on his merit. Rajasthan High Court has asked the authorities to ignore the fact that the person does not possess a long term visa.

Rajasthan HC order states, "Petitioner appeared in the NEET (UG) Examination and has secured 80% marks, it is hereby ordered that the competent authority of the NEET shall allot appropriate college to the petitioner, of course, in accordance with his merit, however, ignoring the fact that the petitioner is not having long term visa in his favour," as reported Live Law.

The court has also directed the authorities that the petitioner must be permitted to pursue his course in the allotted college, which shall be subject to the final outcome of the writ petition.

The petitioner and his family had come to India on October 29, 2011, through a valid passport under Long Term Visa (LTV). The LTV was extended till October 2017, and after that, the request to extend the visa is pending with the competent authority and hence it could not be extended till now.

He has sought the Centre's direction through the writ petition to provide him with an LTV. In August last year, the petitioner had informed the court that he wants to appear in the NEET examination and was fearing that his application may be rejected for the reason that he is not in possession of LTV.
