With the increase in the dengue and Covid-19 cases in Rajasthan and the delay in the NEET PG Counselling 2021, the resident doctors at GMCs across the state are overburdened.

Amid the ongoing demand to expedite the NEET PG Counselling 2021 process, the resident doctors across the government medical colleges in Rajasthan are feeling overburdened as they have to operate at 66% of their total strength due to the delay in the NEET PG Counselling 2021 process and there is more pressure on state's health care system due to the increased dengue and Covid 19 cases.

The resident doctors have protested by wearing black ribbons on their arms to highlight that they are working extra hours to compensate for the 33% of resident doctors of first-year who are still to join their duties.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-PG) was earlier to held in March 2021 and after much delay,  the entrance exam for PG medical courses was held on September 11 and even after the results are announced now, there is a delay in the NEET PG Counselling 2021 due to the pending Supreme Court's order on the 27% OBC and 10% EWS reservation in NEET-UG and NEET-PG.

Nearly one-third of resident doctors were released by medical colleges six months ago when their residentship got over. Due to the delay in the PG Counselling process, only 66% of resident doctors are currently working and this issue is concerning the doctors.

JARD - Jaipur Association Of Resident Doctors' Facebook post reads, "Due to continuous delays in NEET PG counseling, the angry resident doctors of all the medical colleges of Rajasthan performed while on duty without interrupting the work of black strip dam.
Dr. Amit Yadav, President of Resident Union Jard of Sms Medical College Jaipur, said that frustrated with the delay in PG counseling, residents protested to convey their voices to the Supreme Court and Central Government.
It is proud that due to continuous delays in counseling, the hospital is in charge of two batches of residents who are working under physical and mental stress. Students who passed PG exams are also waiting for counseling for months. Due to delay, 1st year duration is also likely to be short. On 18/11/2021, all India resident doctors protested even by running hashtag campaign on Twitter Strom #ExpediteNeetPGcounselling2021."

Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) Doctors Association has recently written to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) to expedite NEET PG Counselling for the year 2021.

Some of the related tweets under #ExpediteNEETPGCounselling2021 are:

Requesting Hon'ble Chief Justice of India to accelerate NEET PG councelling process. Junior Resident Doctors are frazzeled due to lack of manpower and Neet PG aspirants are at the verge of losing a year

#FAIMA writes to #CJI to expedite NEET PG counselling for the year 2021. Residents throughout the country are facing burnout due to shortage of doctors. Through NEET PG, we will get a significant boost to our workforce! We need it ASAP!
