The government has also stated that students will only be allowed to attend offline classes after the written consent of their parents.
Rajasthan School Reopening: Amid the declining cases of the novel coronavirus, the government of Rajasthan has announced the reopening of schools up to Class 5 in private and government schools in urban areas of the state from February 16. However, attendance is not mandatory. Schools have been asked to conduct classes via both online and offline mode. Students still have the option of online education. The government has also stated that students will only be allowed to attend offline classes after the written consent of their parents. Earlier, Rajasthan reopened schools for up to Class 12 on February 1.
The state shut schools for all students in view of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Various states across the country including Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh will resume offline classes after many months of closure from February 14.
On February 2, the Central Government released modified guidelines for reopening of schools and asked states and Union Territories (UTs) to decide at their level whether schools require consent from parents to allow students in classrooms.
According to the revised guidelines, states and UTs have the authority if parents need to give consent. However, the new guidelines have also asked parents to give their consent if states or UTs ask for it.
“Once school reopens, the grade related syllabus should be undertaken only after the bridge course is completed, so that students can adjust to the changed school environment and do not feel the stress or left out, especially students who did not have access to alternate means of education,” it said.
