Refer to FMGE Regulations before applying to medical courses in China, says NMC
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has notified that the aspirants who are planning to get admissions to medical courses in China/Foreign institutions must read FMGE regulations before applying to any such courses.
The Indian students who were earlier enrolled in the medical colleges in China have faced many challenges as there are strict travel restrictions in China and many students have been stuck in India and unable to return to their universities. They are studying through online classes and medical courses require practical classes as well. Now, the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India has noticed that few Universities in the People's Republic of China have started issuing notices for admission to MBBS programs for current and upcoming academic sessions.
National Medical Commission (NMC) notification in this regard reads, "In this context, any prospective student needs to be aware that the Government of People's Republic of China has imposed strict travel restrictions in the wake of Covid-19 and suspended all visas since November 2020. A large number of international students including Indian students have not been able to return to China to continue their studies due to these restrictions. Thus far, there has been no relaxation in the restrictions. Further, the Chinese authorities have conveyed earlier that courses will be conducted online."
"As per the extant rules, National Medical Commission does not recognize or approve medical courses done only by online mode. Also, students are advised to refer to FMGE Regulations before applying or planning to seek admission in any institutions in China/Foreign institutions. In view of the above, students are advised to exercise due diligence in choosing where to pursue medical education from," added the notification.
