Bihar TET Exam Cancelled with Immediate Effect, state to accept CTET scores; check details

Bihar TET exam has been cancelled with immediate effect in the state. The Bihar government will now accept the CTET scores. Read further to know more details along with the official letter.

Bihar Government has decided to cancel the conduct of the Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (BTET) with immediate effect. As per the official letter addressed to Secretary, Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) from Ravi Prakash, Director (Primary Education), since the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is being conducted every year by the Centre, the State has decided to not to hold the Bihar TET exam.

Furthermore, the conduct of the CBSE CTET exam is proving enough to cater to the needs of the qualified teachers in Bihar. The Government does not feel the need for a similar test at the state level. If the need to conduct the BTET exam arises in future, the department will take the necessary decision.

The decision regarding the cancellation of the Bihar TET exam was taken during the high-level review meeting held under the chairmanship of Deepak Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Education). This high-level meeting was the outcome of the Patna High Court order that directed the Bihar Government to consider holding the BTET exam in the state.

As per the Bihar Elementary School Service (Appointment, Promotion, Transfer, Disciplinary Proceeding and Service Condition) Rules 2020, qualifying the TET exam either conducted by the Centre or State is essential for the recruitment of teachers in the state.

It may be noted here that the last edition of the Bihar TET exam was conducted in 2017. Candidates have been demanding the conduct of the Bihar TET examination since then.
