Student protests against the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th Preliminary Examination intensified on Friday, with SFI Delhi activists rallying outside Bihar Bhawan. They condemned alleged irregularities in the exam process and criticized the police's handling of demonstrators. Meanwhile, the BPSC reaffirmed that the exam will not be canceled, dismissing the allegations as baseless.

SFI Delhi’s Stand on Paper Leak Allegations

The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) joined forces with other student organizations to demand the cancellation and re-conduct of the examination. Protesting outside Bihar Bhawan, SFI leaders, including Avijit Ghosh, JNUSU Vice-President, questioned the commission's claims of secure exam protocols. Sohan Yadav, an SFI state committee member, highlighted the precarious conditions faced by Bihar’s students, citing frequent paper leaks and opaque processes.

Commission Reiterates Fairness and Transparency

Despite the escalating protests, the BPSC Examination Controller, Rajesh Kumar Singh, maintained that the allegations lack credibility. He urged candidates to focus on preparing for the main exam, scheduled for April, and assured that the re-exam for the Bapu Examination Complex would take place on January 4 at centers in Patna.

BPSC Candidates Key Protest Demands

Protestors, who have staged a sit-in at Gardanibagh Dharna Sthal for nine days, are calling for:

Cancellation and re-conduct of the 70th Preliminary Examination.

Transparent investigation into alleged malpractices.

Implementation of SOPs for competitive exams.

Exclusion of candidates’ names from FIRs related to the paper leak.

Mixed Reactions to Protest Participation

The protests saw support from notable educators like Khan Sir and Rehman Sir, but their involvement led to disagreements among candidates. Some accused them of using the platform for personal promotion.

The ongoing unrest underscores the need for reforms in exam administration to address student concerns and restore faith in competitive examination systems. The BPSC’s commitment to conducting exams transparently will be tested as protests continue to draw national attention.
